Dwane, Doreen

2020

Doreen Aileen Dwane Mongrain, age 69, passed away on April 17, 2013 due to complications with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born to the late Eileen and Lester Dwane on June 17, 1943. Doreen attended all of her initial schooling in Montreal. She completed her original teaching certificate in 1962 and took a temporary teaching assignment in Kipawa. After a brief teaching position from 1966 to 1969 in Montreal, Doreen and her family returned to Kipawa to stay. In 1982, Doreen graduated with honours from Nipissing University with a degree in Psychology. Doreen exclusively taught grade one for CLSC until 2002. Her passion and love for her vocation was unfounded and continued even after her retirement. Each and every student had a special place in her heart. She celebrated their successes. She reveled in their accomplishments. She was proud to be their grade one teacher. She fought for the rights of the community, the friends and the family that she loved. Many people benefited from Doreen’s tutelage and dedication to Kipawa and Temiscaming. Doreen was a wonderful mentor to all of her “children” and admired their successes. On August 1, 1964, Doreen married her sweetheart, Rupert Sr. For 48 years, they shared their love for serenity, fishing, and sunsets over Hunter’s Lake. She was a proud Mom to Cindy (John) and Rupert Jr. (Laura). Her grandchildren Connor, Ava, and Luke were rays of sunshine in her life. Doreen leaves behind her sister and two brothers and many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. Doreen’s family would like to thank all of her special angels in Long Term Care for all of their care and love over the past year. You all made her stay awesome! As well, thank you to all of our friends and family for all of your support during this time. A celebration of Doreen’s life in her honour will take place on Monday August 12, 2013 in Kipawa. More information will be announced closer to the summer.
