Patricia Dorval (née Rowlands), daughter of Jack and Pearl Rowlands, lived a life centered
around love, laughter, and deep devotion to her family. She always put family first, welcoming
everyone to her table for holiday meals that overflowed with food and warmth, and the elaborate
baked treats she was famous for. She had a gift for making everyone feel special, whether she
was organizing bingo games, baking special birthday cakes, or inventing new celebrations like
“Christmas in July” just to bring her family together. Known for her playful teasing and the
good-natured bickering she shared with her beloved husband, Leo, she brought happiness and
humour into everyday moments.
Patricia loved her life on Tee Lake, binoculars in hand, keeping watch over the world around her.
Gatherings—especially by the campfire, listening to stories, singing, and the guitar—were
among her happiest times. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her children,
grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, holding each joy close to her heart and celebrating every
milestone. She embraced her family’s shenanigans as wholeheartedly as her own, whether
pulling light-hearted pranks or simply finding ways to make others laugh.
With four children in school, Patricia went to work at the Temiscaming Hospital at the age of
thirty to help support her family. At forty-two, she returned to college and achieved a healthcare
diploma with honours. She went on to provide loving, devoted care to the patients of the hospital
for more than eighteen years.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Leo Dorval, whose tender care supported her in her
final years; her brother, Ted Rowlands; her sisters, Mary Rowlands and Judy Bellehumeur (and
her husband Jules); her children Jacqueline, Kade (and his wife Lisa), Daniel (and his wife Erin),
and Robert (and his wife Lise). She was “Nana” to her grandchildren Jordana, Domoninque,
Rebecca, Stacey (and her husband Kyle), Megan, Sam, Molly, Bronwyn, Tristan, and Camille;
and she will also be fondly remembered by her great-grandchildren Charlie, Jude, Hayley, Chloe,
and Abriele. Patricia is dearly missed as well by many dear friends and extended family
members.
Patricia’s legacy is one of unconditional love—a gift she passed on to every generation of her
family. She had a remarkably selfless heart, ensuring others knew how much their kindness
meant to her. Her bright spirit will continue to shine through the stories shared, the laughter
remembered, and the bonds she nurtured so deeply.
The family is deeply grateful to the Temiscaming Homecare team, Dr St Pierre and the staff in the Short term care unit.
